Survey of Physical Concerns (2024)Men's Edition

In July 2024, 1,500 men aged 20-79 nationwide were surveyed about their physical problems. It is said that men can develop menopause at any time from their late 30s, when male hormones begin to decline. This year's men's section of the survey analyzed current physical concerns and countermeasures, style awareness, stress reduction methods, and perceptions of male menopause and LOH syndrome.

Survey Result Topics
The most common current physical concerns are weight and body shape, hair loss/thinning, mental stress, high blood pressure, bad breath, and lifestyle (diet, exercise, sleep) management. <Figure 1>
Those in their 20s and 30s have high concerns about "thick beards," those in their 40s have high concerns about "mental stress," those in their 50s have high concerns about "hair loss/thinning hair," those in their 60s and 70s have high blood pressure, and in addition those in their 70s have high concerns about "frequent urination. <Figure 2>
As countermeasures for the things that bother them the most, some respondents said "regular exercise" for weight and body shape, "use of hair growth/regrowth agents" for hair loss/thinning hair on the M-shaped or top of the head, "visiting a hospital/mental clinic" for mental stress, and "regular visits to a doctor and taking medication" for high blood pressure. <Figure 3>

In terms of style awareness, 34% of the respondents wanted to lose weight, while those who wanted to gain muscle and improve posture were in the 20% range. <Figure 4>
To relieve stress, "Getting a good night's sleep," "Watching TV/movies/videos," and "Getting a good night's rest" were at the top of the list at 30%, while "Going for a walk/walking" in their 70s was outstanding at 44%, and "Playing games" in their 20s and 30s, "Eating delicious food" in their 40s, and "Taking a bath/spa/sauna" in their 70s were at the 30% level. Taking a bath/spa/sauna" in their 70s stands out at the 30% level. <Figure 5>

The percentage of respondents who "know both the name and the name" of male menopause was 12%, and when only the name is included, 54%, or more than half of the respondents, were aware of the symptoms. Awareness of LOH syndrome is extremely low, at less than 10%. Even among those in their 20s and 30s, who have a high recognition rate, the percentage remains in the 10% range. <Figure 6>
